Plan Your Week

No More Guesswork

The Baobab Blast program takes the guesswork out of your VBS planning. Flexible lesson planning and multiple models make Baobab Blast customizable to your congregation. Pick and choose what works best for you, knowing that your VBS will be a success no matter your size, budget, or location.

Review these different models to help you start creating your VBS. The Director Guide provides detailed schedules to help you put these models into action for your location.

Rotation and Multi-Age Rotation Model

The rotation model is flexible and plays to the strengths of volunteers. Small group activities build relationships while Activity Sites present the Bible story each day through experiential, hands-on learning.

Each day begins with Opening Celebration, followed by small group time and rotation through a number of Activity Sites before breaking for snack and joining together in Closing Celebration.

Modified Rotation

Modified Rotation requires less physical space and reduces the amount of travel time in your VBS schedule. Small group time is expanded and small group leaders lead both the small group time and Storytelling activities within their classrooms. More time in the classroom means the kids and leaders build friendships more quickly and are able to explore the Bible story in more depth. Kids shake off their wiggles as they rotate through one or two additional stand-alone Activity Sites and join in large group Opening and Closing Celebrations. Download

Site-Based Rotation

Using Site-Based Rotation VBS format, each day of VBS is experienced at a different site/location. Kids spend one day at each location. Site-Based VBS allows each site to focus on creating an exciting, dynamic environment that supports one Bible lesson. Volunteers teach one story that they repeat with different groups of kids each day. Site-based Rotation is a great option for community-based VBS programs where multiple congregations share the responsibility for VBS. Download

Classroom

Classroom Model offers kids the comfort and familiarity of their school classroom experience. The opportunity to spend extended time with their friends and small group leader helps to form lasting friendships and can provide a sense of comfort and security to learners. Small group leaders, using activities from the Leader Guide and Activity Guides, structure each day to meet the specific needs of their group. Lesson activities easily carry over from day to day. The Classroom Model begins and ends each day with large group Opening and Closing Celebrations. Download

Intergenerational

Celebrate the community of believers by mixing all ages, from preschoolers to older adults, with an Intergenerational VBS. The Intergenerational Learning Model offers a unique opportunity for families to learn together, for newer church members to assimilate into established groups, and for the entire congregation to come together as community. The Intergenerational Model begins and ends each day with large group Opening and Closing Celebrations. Five Intergenerational lessons are available on the Baobab Blast Web Tool Kit. Download
